Calculation Formula

The speed of the vehicle is calculated using the following formula:

Speed (mph)=Circumference×RPM×60Gear Ratio×12×5280\text{Speed (mph)} = \frac{\text{Circumference} \times \text{RPM} \times 60}{\text{Gear Ratio} \times 12 \times 5280}

Where:

  • Circumference is the wheel diameter multiplied by π (pi), measured in inches: Circumference=π×Wheel Diameter\text{Circumference} = \pi \times \text{Wheel Diameter}
  • RPM (Revolutions Per Minute): The number of times the wheel rotates per minute.
  • Gear Ratio: The selected transmission gear, which affects the output speed.
  • Conversion Factors:
    • 12 inches per foot
    • 5280 feet per mile
    • 60 minutes per hour

This formula considers both wheel rotation and transmission gear ratio to provide an estimated vehicle speed in miles per hour (mph).
